Courtney has been telling me to start a blog for months now... and I'm doing it. I'm not entirely sure that my life is interesting enough to put on the internet for people to read. I've started reading the blogs of a few people and they're much better writers than I am, so maybe that will inspire me to become more creative. Who knows.
I am officially prego with my first child and am due 5/13/08. I'm pretty excited, seeing as how we've been trying for approx 2 years. My trick? Ovulation kit from Target. $14.
I'm 21 weeks and still don't know the gender. My ultrasound tech was in a bad mood and told me I should've come in at 20 weeks instead of 18 and that she couldn't tell me what the gender was. I was pretty upset but I'm trying to figure out how to get my insurance to pay for another one. We'll see how that goes.

This is the picture from my 8 week ultrasound ... it showed me that I'm REALLY pregnant. Doesn't look like much, but I thought it was pretty cool. Now I need to scan my 18 week u/s and upload it.
My pregnancy has been pretty easy so far: no morning sickness and I'm past the "I just want to sleep all the time" first trimester. The only problems so far are Posterior Pelvic Pain (literally a pain in the butt... sciatic nerve pain deep in the middle of your butt cheek) and Round Ligament Pain. I paged my doctor wondering what was wrong... scared I was miscarrying or something... but turns out that it was just "ligament pain" from everything stretching out. Now I just feel like when I walk around too much that my pelvic joints are going to collapse and I'm going to fall to the ground. It's really strange, but it gives me an excuse to sit down more often. :)
My husband has been great, but this is his second time around. He has an adoreable 5 year old son from a previous relationship that I would LOVE to claim for my own. He calls me "my Jennifer" and it's just too cute. His Daddy and I began dating when Z (my step-son... don't want to give out his entire name) was 6 months old. We got married 22 months later and there are no signs of giving up after being married 3 years of marriage. Seriously, I got a great package deal.
So J (my hubby) has become very protective since I've begun showing. Being prego has gotten me out of heavy lifting (i.e., helping put the Christmas tree and boxes of decorations back into the attic) and he doesn't like me cleaning with chemical sprays, etc. I was trying to clean the master bathroom's shower and he told me to get out, that he'd do it. No argument from me! When I was cleaning the kitchen after cooking a huge Christmas dinner, he made me open the window so I wouldn't be inhaling so many fumes from the antibac spray. It's really cute, because he's not one to let me slide on cleaning the house. lol. The best part is that he now takes naps and sleeps in later than me! He has NEVER slept past 7 on a weekend and he's always waking me up trying to get me to go do something on Saturday AMs. I get up early during the week, so I like my sleep on the weekends. But NOW... he sleeps his mornings away and it's like he's pregnant, too. He's gained a little weight and we like to compare bellies.
My parents are ecstatic because this is their first "real" grandchild. They consider Z their grandchild, but this is their first biological grandkid. My Dad is the one who is giddy... he has bought a few outfits for a girl (even though we're not sure of the gender -- we're all convinced I'll have a mini-me) and I imagine once we find out for sure, he'll go all out. Fine by me, because we can use all the help we can get. We have NO baby stuff but I'm buying little things as I can. My Dad bought a case of diapers not long after I found out I was prego. I've gotten a few things of babywipes and both parents have bought some onesies. My cousin bought a really soft blanket so I guess I have a few things. Just hoping grandma and grandpa help out in the bigger stuff, too (if you're reading ... like the bassinet, playard, and breast pump!).
Guess I need to get back to work, since they pay me for being here and such...
