Idiotic Men.

So this morning I came in to work late because Bayley is still waking up every 2-3 hours STARVING. I got to sleep a whole 4 straight hours this morning from 5am to 9am. I was stoked! So anyway, I am on my way to work and see this funny bumper sticker:

I'D SMACK YOU BUT SHIT SPLATTERS.

Hehehe. I smiled and came into work. The phone nurse asked me how I was and I said, "Just fine, thanks. Bayley just woke up a few times." So he tells me about his first wife who breastfed both of their babies. The baby would whimper, she'd latch the baby on and go back to sleep. She'd wake up when the baby fidgeted and put the baby back in the bassinet. He said, "I never woke up." I said, "That must've been nice!" He laughed and said it was a piece of cake for him.

So he goes to lunch and another lady I work with comes out of her office and asks me how I'm doing. She has 3 grown kids so she's been there. She said, "This morning I told D (the male nurse), 'I'm glad she's getting some sleep. I'd hate for her to drive up here and have a wreck, get pneumonia, or something else.' " D says, "It seems she's having a lot of problems being a new mother." The lady just looked at him funny and said, "When babies don't sleep, mothers don't sleep." She said she just wanted to smack him. I then told her that most men NEVER understand and then told her about the bumper sticker. She got a good kick out of that.

I told a friend via IM here at work (who has a precious 7 month old) and she made me spew my water all over my screen.

Her response: I'd punch that guy in the dick! Idiot!

So there you have it, folks.

A little eye candy to end on...

First pic: A friend had a baby who was due 2 weeks after Bayley. They finally got to meet and look how cute they are!
Second pic: Typical Bayley face.
Third pic: she likes to snooze on her boppy pillow.

Growth Spurts = No Sleep for Mommy

So Bayley is going through another growth spurt, because she's not sleeping her normal 10 hours at night the past couple of nights. And she's waking up STARVING every few hours again. Last night was a little better since she made it 7 hours. It's a good thing she rewards me with smiles once she's full. This pic was taken by daycare. They gave me a copy and said, "She is one of the happiest babies in here. She and one other kid smile ALL the time." Yay for happy babies!

Joe has been good about helping out with Bayley more. He often sings to her and rocks her to sleep. This pic was taken one day when she was ready for a nap. Then Z decides he wants to get in Daddy's lap too. And once Z sees a camera, he just HAS to be in the picture.

On another note... been trying to work out more often. One of my neighbors and I go walk around our neighborhood for two miles. Usually when I get home, my butt hurts so badly I can't bend over. It's been SO HOT lately... it was 110 degrees on my way home Monday. Yesterday it was 104. We didn't go yesterday though because Bayley had woken up several times during the night and I was so exhausted I couldn't even drive to work. It reminded me of my maternity leave days. Ugh.
Shannon has motivated me by watching her weight loss. I work full time, my husband works full time and goes to school full time, I often watch my 6 year old stepson, and I have a 4 month old (whose "corrected" age is 2 months because she came 7 weeks early) of my own. I'm SO DAMN TIRED all the time because I'm overweight ( I wear a size 18) and I've got a baby to take care of. I do manage to go walking in the evenings here lately while Joe watches Bayley. It's too hot to take her out. My goal is to go at least 3 nights a week and once on the weekends, so we'll see. I'm ready for fall!!

First Taste of Cereal...

Bayley got her 4 month shots Friday and the doctor said she should start eating cereal twice a day to "practice swallowing." So I rush out and get her some little spoons, bowls, and a box of rice cereal. I was trying to hold the camera in one hand and the spoon in the other. I took pics with my digital camera and also with my phone. These are the ones from my phone, as I forgot to bring my camera to work today. :(

First taste...
WHAT is THAT?!
Not sure I like this...
Don't think I got any in my mouth...

But aren't I cute?!

Just photos.

Bayley at 3 months.
This was at about 2 months old...How do babies sleep like that?
Big yawn for sleepy girl. I love the little "aaahhhs" she makes when she yawns...and then the little smacks afterwards. I LOVE IT!!
Post-yawn. She's a happy girl.

Just hangin' out with crazy hair lookin' at her mommy.
Bay at a few weeks old. She's TINY. This is a preemie outfit and it was pretty loose on her.
This is Bay on the same Boppy pillow 2 months later. She's kicking and moving those arms...she doesn't really have a nub for a left hand...

Bay at a month old. We had gone to return a hospital grade breast pump I had rented. Her head was still too small to go without wrapping a blanket around her. Kept her widdle head from flopping around.
This was Bay in June. 3 months old. Look how much bigger she is!

Okay, those are some updated pics. I'll have more later.

Been a while...

Sorry it's been almost another month since a post, but I just now was able to stop by a place with free wi-fi! Still haven't read other posts and I am in severe withdrawls!!!

Bayley is 11 lbs now and is a smiley, happy baby. Daycare says she smiles instead of taking her bottle so they have to turn her away from them so she won't look at them and smile. That's the only way they can get her to eat. haha!

She still gets pear juice daily and we've had no more problems. Now she has her first ear infection. Long story short, she woke up one night screaming and we had NO idea what was wrong. We tried everything we knew and nothing was working. Finally we took her to the local ER. Mistake number one. Then I let the nurses try to put in a catheter. Mistake number two. That was more painful for her than what was wrong with her. I finally asked them to stop. We were sent home 4 hours later with no diagnosis other than "fussy baby." She had been given an IV with fluids. So the next morning the ER calls back with a diagnosis of "early pneumonia on her lower left lobe of her lung." Of course they won't treat her and I need to take her to her doctor's office. I leave work a few hours later and take her and they do a repeat chest xray. Their diagnosis? Ear infection. I asked about the pneumonia and they said "her chest xray is clear. She's fine. She isn't even coughing." So that's what I get for going to a local ER instead of the children's hospital 20 mins away. I won't make that mistake again. (I also work for that children's hospital -- as an administrative assistant to all those ER physicians. ) The children's ER docs told me to next time call ahead and they'll see if they can help me over the phone. If I need to bring her in, they'll meet me at the door. The benefits of working for them, I suppose.

Zach (my stepson) is doing well. He turned 6 in June and he LOVES being a big brother. He was crying when she was crying in the ER because he didn't like to know she was sick. So sweet.

Can't think of any other updates... other than we are P O O R from paying $550 a month for daycare, $100/mo for formula and diapers, etc. All moms are nodding in complete understanding, I'm sure, but D A N G. How do people afford more than one kid? I guess that's when daddy has to find a GOOD paying job and mommy stays at home.

Guess I need to go. My mom is walking Bayley around McAlister's getting all sorts of smiles and giggles and I need to go home and let my dog in. It's 103 degrees outside. Collies have long hair and I'm sure he's roasting.

I miss reading all the blogs! I just bought a 3G phone so hopefully I can at least log in on evenings and weekends with that. Never done it before, so hopefully that will work.
